Dad
In the beginning of our
lives
Our
tiny hinnies you would wipe.
You
fed us, burped us, tucked us into bed,
Then
kissed our soft little heads.
You
helped us to walk and to talk.
You
made us our favorite – beans and ham hock.
You
let us paint on the wall
And
taught us all about Monday night football.
You
showed us how to ride our bikes
And
ran off all the boys we liked.
You
made us laugh with stories and jokes.
You
saved us when we crashed and choked.
You
taught us the difference between right and wrong.
You
sung us all those crazy songs.
You
made us feel like the apple of your eye.
You
dried our tears when we cried.
Then
it was time for us to leave home,
To go
out and try these things on our own.
You told us to be strong
And
to call if anything went wrong.
It’s
because you have always been there
That
we have had no fear.
You
provide for us in every way
So
many things we cannot say.
Dad,
we want to tell you now
That
you make us very proud.
You
are our hero, our father, and our friend.
Our
love for you will never end.
