Hope for Change
This was my prayer this morning:
Dear God,
Yesterday Obama was elected President. Many people are in fear of the future, including myself. My thoughts are with You, God. I trust You and believe in Your promises. I know that many more will come to You in these hard times. I know that You will strengthen my faith. I pray for Your will, as always. At this point, I can't help but feel a tinge of excitement about what You are planning. I think of You watching over us with a smile, rubbing Your hands together, pushing up Your selves and saying, "Alright, now lets get down to business!" Change our hearts Lord so that we rely upon You more. Show us how to help each other with love, comfort, earnest, and mutual concern for each others problems.
Galatians 5:22-24 (The Message)
22-23But what happens when we live God's way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.
23-24Legalism is helpless in bringing this about; it only gets in the way. Among those who belong to Christ, everything connected with getting our own way and mindlessly responding to what everyone else calls necessities is killed off for good—crucified.
